The Internet Defense League

The Washington Post reports some of the same folks who lead the SOPA/PIPA protests have joined together to create the Internet Defense League - launched to coincide with the latest Batman movie. Seriously. The idea is a number of reputable organizations will collaborate to alert the public when problematic legislation is proposed by sending out a cat signal!

New Tech Observer has joined, so if you see a big Cat image take over the home page, you know there is something to pay attention to. I think this is a great way to make it easier for people to participate in the legislation process. From the article:

Companies including Mozilla, WordPress, Reddit and the Cheezburger Network have joined with advocacy groups such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation to form theInternet Defense League — a group dedicated to warning Internet users when they see legislation that they find threatening to Internet innovation.
